Drew Stevenson, Manager Corporate & Technology, Rockhampton Regional Council

As Council’s CIO, Drew’s responsibilities encompass managing the strategic direction of a broad portfolio of business units including Information Services, Property & Insurance, Fleet Services, Procurement & Logistics and the Smart Regional Centre.

In the second half of 2015, Drew oversaw the development and adoption of the Rockhampton Region’s Smart Regional Centre Strategy – The Smart Way Forward.  Some key actions of the Strategy include the implementation of a range Internet of Things enabled technologies; smart lighting, Wi-Fi, CCTV, digital banners and smart parking.  Drew has also overseen the development of the Customs House SmartHub startup incubator and adoption of an Open Data Publishing Framework.

One of the major achievements of the Rockhampton smart technology implementation has been the partnership with the Illuminating Concepts Intellistreets team to successfully implement more than 120 Intellistreets Post Top Module Smart LED Light Poles throughout the along the riverside and CBD area.

Along with professional qualifications in information technology, Drew also has a background in business management, aircraft maintenance engineering and maintenance management.
